ITEC-1016: CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals
This course provides a fundamental understanding of PC components, functionality, compatibility and related technology topics. The course covers IT technology and computer hardware basics, health and safety concerns, fire risk and prevention, compatibility issues and common errors, software installation and functions, security risks and prevention, “green IT” and preventive maintenance of computers. This course requires students to take and pass CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certification exam, FC0-U51 exam as the final exam for this course.
This course requires students to understand basic computer hardware and operating systems (OS) concepts to a level required by a set of industry standards (CompTIA exam objectives). Students build upon thew project management skills they learned in ITEC-1100 that requires students produce a written time-lines and plan to utilize their time at the DATC well; defined as, successfully completing the IT Program on-time and on-budget. Moreover, students are required to schedule, take and pass the CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certification exam: FC0-U51 prior to the end date of the course.
The objective and level of competence demonstrated by passing the requires students CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certification exam demonstrates that students have the skills for an entry level job in a computer repair shop or IT sales position.
